Email Sharing - Caution On North-South Highway

Below was an email received for sharing and readers to take note.

Dear all (especially for those who travels a lot with north-south highway),

This is a true event! It happened to my friend, Alvin.

Alvin came all the way from JB to Selayang, KL, on a business trip. At about 12:30am, 29/4/2011, his Toyota was over-heated, he then parked at the emergency lane (KM269.9) before Seremban exit, North-South Highway. Planning to let the engine cool down, add water to the water tank and slowly drive to KL, he took his rest for a while...

A while later, a tow truck arrived to offer a helping hand. The driver is an Indian wearing a Chinese workshop jacket, estimated the towing fees and rough costing to repair the over-heating engine for about less than RM200. Both agreed, the car was towed to a workshop in Mambau. Seremban.

Yup, it's ?? ?uto??bil Enterprise !!!

Operated by a bunch of Indian. (I don't mean that all Indians are like them, I have lots of good Indian friends too.) There, the workshop boss quoted Alvin for about RM300 plus. Then he asked his workers to start dismantling the engine to inspect the gasket. He then told Alvin to come back the next day to get the car. Without any choice, Alvin left the workshop to look for a hotel nearby...

The next day, Alvin went back there to see the progress... there he waited, waited waited... started to worry, at that moment, there was a mid-age Chinese guy with his family seemed waiting for there car too. They started to find out that things are not right and the later went to the police station nearby to make a police report and came back to claim the car. He was charged RM2,800.00 for also a simple engine over-heating problem! And Alvin's bill is RM3,939 !!!

After everything was settled, he left Seremban heading back to KL...

Half way through, he had to stop at the emergency lane again because the engine was HOT again!!! Slowly he moved, stopped to cool it down, drove another few km... and so on until he reached KL. Here, the mechanic did a complete check to find out that the engine was completely doomed because "someone" purposely did something to the engine to kill it after sometime... OMG. That is so evil!!!

After digging through some blogs, it seems this workshop is actually very famous! There were many many cases with this ?? ?uto??bil Enterprise!!! What??? Is there any police in that area? Are they blind? Deaf? or dead? .... or they are some sort of "partners"??? You be the judges.

FYI, ?? ?uto??bil Enterprise is located at:

No. ?, Jalan Helang ?
Taman Industri Ringgan Mambau
70300 Seremban
H/P : 01?-26? 199? / 01?-24? 170? / 01?-996? 39?

Alvin made a police report and he went to the Hal Ehwa Pengguna Malaysia to further complain and hopefully they will take action towards these bunch of devils.

Whatever the outcome may be, the moral of this event is DON'T TRUST ANYBODY EXCEPT THE HIGHWAY AUTHORIZED TOW TRUCK DRIVER TO TOW YOUR VEHICLE IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU ON THE HIGHWAY!!!

PLEASE SHARE THIS TO ALL THAT YOU KNOW.

From Fake Egg to Plastic Rice

Previous post on "black hearted goods things" from China is THIS. Before, it was the FAKE EGG. Now plastic rice?
Is China Manufacturing Plastic Rice?
From toxic toys to tainted milk, there are many reasons for people to be wary of the "Made in China" label.

But if a new story emerging from media outlets in Singapore and Hong Kong is accurate, it proves that things can always get worse.

The website Very Vietnam (and several  others) recently reported that a type of "rice" made from a combination of potatoes and plastic resin is being distributed in the Chinese town of Taiyuan, in Shaanxi province.

From the article:

"It is formed by mixing the potatoes and sweet potatoes into the shape of rice grains, then adding industrial synthetic resins. Since the rice does not behave like normal rice, it stays hard even after it has been cooked. Such synthetic resins can also be very harmful if consumed.

A Chinese Restaurant Association official said that eating three bowls of this fake rice would be like eating one plastic bag. Due to the seriousness of the matter, he added that there would be an investigation of factories alleged to be producing the rice. Meanwhile, the low cost of the fake rice is allowing wholesalers to make large profits."

The International Rice Research Institute reports that residents of Hong Kong alone consume 7 million bowls of rice every day.

While undoubtedly cheaper than growing, harvesting, and distributing actual rice, it doesn't take a health expert to see that it's probably not safe to be ingesting the equivalent of a plastic bag (or two) every day.

If it's true, this is yet another example of the risks associated with an industrial food system that cares more about quantity than quality, and profit more than people.

From 'Very Vietnam' :
China Makes Fake Rice from Plastic? Vietnam Reacts
A number of Chinese companies have been involved over the years in various scandals involving fake or tainted goods. Perhaps the most dangerous of all involve food, including the now famous 2008 milk scandal in which Chinese-made milk was found to contain the toxin melamine. The end result was 290,000 victims who fell ill and 11 suspected cases of death.

Now there are reports from Singapore media that China is mass producing fake rice, which can be potentially very dangerous.

Original Korean article from: Weekly Hong Kong
Fake Plastic Rice from China

According to the Korean-language “Weekly Hong Kong” (which many Vietnam websites are referencing as well), Singapore media claim that fake rice is being distributed in the Chinese town of Taiyuan, in Shaanxi province. This “rice” is a mix of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and plastic. It is formed by mixing the potatoes and sweet potatoes into the shape of rice grains, then adding industrial synthetic resins.

Airport Luggages - Take Note

WARNING about luggage and drugs in airport.

A senior police officer who used to look after Drugs Enforcement said that some of the tricks employed by drug trafickers include:-
1. Slippin drugs into your luggages at the luggage belt, especially soft luggages with many external side pockets. Unsuspectingly, you will carry the luggages out through Custom, and get the drugs from you (somehow) outside if you managed to get through. Many unsuspecting passengers have been arrested this way.
PREVENTION : use hard suitcases with no side pockets

2. Sometimes there will be an old lady who will pretend not to be able to carry the luggage and ask you to help carry out through the Custom.
PREVENTION : Never help anyone carry luggages out.

He said that these practices are mostly in China , India , Sydney , and several other airports.

Sharing : Durian & Olive Oil

To all durian lovers - please be aware!

FORWARDED FROM A FRIEND
Lesson : DO NOT entertain or approach any durian seller whom you do not know at all, especially pasar malam, an event which they move from one place to another ....
Personally, I had a similar experience at Raju's in Petaling Jaya sometime early this year, 2010.
As we had finished our roti canai at Raju's, a "decent" looking youth came up to me with a durian with a "window" opened to show a nice and tempting durian flesh inside. Yummy, so I thought.
He led me to this van half-filled with durians and promptly told his burly buddy that this boss (that's me) wanted to buy. This fellow just picked a huge durian and proceeded to open it.

Then in quick succession, he had already opened 3 fruits.
I frantically stopped him and said that I actually wanted one only.
The usual concluding statement from him was, "What am I going to do with these 3opened durians ?"
I asked how much?
He answered, "RM280.00"!!
I uttered, "That's robbery."
Sensing that I had just been conned and cornered, I said sternly that I am only willing to pay RM120.00 max for the durians.
To cut the long story short, I settled for RM200.00
Dear all,

My daughter just related this true incident that happened to her friend's mother.

She was eating breakfast at a makan stall in a wet market. A man approached her and asked if she would like to buy some fresh durians.
Being a durian lover, she said yes. The man then asked her to follow him to his stall nearby.

At his stall, there were lots of durians. The man opened some fruits to show her the freshness of the durian. She was quite taken aback that he opened quite a few, so she said only wanted 5 durians.
Suddenly, the man asked, "What am I going to do with the opened durians?!"
He insisted that she buy all the opened fruits. At this point, two big men with tattoos appeared at the stall.
The frightened woman decided not to buy and quickly walked to her car.

But just as she opened the car door, the 'durian seller' came up behind her and slammed her door shut!
He waved the parang he had used to open the durians and demanded RM400 for the 5 durians she had wanted to buy.
The lady tried to protest about the price, but the man shouted at her, waving the parang threateningly close to her head. So, after some 'bargaining' (pleading), the three men settled on a price of RM 300 for five durians!
This incident happened in Cheras, but a robbery scam can be set up anywhere.
Beware, because they pretend to be legit traders, and durian sellers do carry parangs in broad daylight, so they have an alibi. If the cops show up, they'd just deny everything.
Times are hard now, and criminals are cooking up creative ways to rob the more vulnerable ones in surprising ways.
SO, PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCAM. PASS THIS EMAIL AROUND AND WARN YOUR FRIENDS, ESPECIALLY DURIAN LOVERS. THE MAIN TARGET ARE AUNTIE AND UNCLE.

Olive Oil

Olive for cooking has been known as good for health.
But be careful!  If the bottle is labeled "Extra Virgin", the product is super!
It was made with the first time oil squeezed out from olives and is good for all ways of cooking and salad mixture.
If it is labeled "pure", that was the 2nd. or 3rd. time squeezed out oil and is good for all cooking but not for mixing salad.
If it is labeled "olive oil' or "macro olive oil", it is the 4th or 5th time using heat to squeeze out oil.
These are cheaper but can cause cancers. They can only be used in industry.  Please be careful!
