RUKUN NEGARA - The nation (Malaysia) that we all agree to build -

WHY WE SHOULD STAND FOR NATIONAL ANTHEM?

A nation is an agreement among us of what a nation is.. it is we who made the nation...

Rukun Negara... this is the agreement that we have made

If not the National anthem, can you find one way, one simple way, where every citizen of the nation can stand up for one minute to express their respect for the nation?

I did it my way ... (LET ME BE YOUR LEADER)

"The whole ground can be against me, but if I know it is right, I'll do it. That's the business of a leader" - Lee Kuan Yew

In the course of building a nation, do you see a nation being progressively built or otherwise, by "a leader doing his business"? That is the difference between leader A and leader B, after saying "I know this is right, so I'll do it".

Determined that it is right, one leader may go all the way, even though against swelling ground, until his points are proven. He did it his way. The ground then subsides, ready again for the next episodes. He stood tall.

While the other, undetermined of what is right or wrong, may go back and forth, trying to control more and more swelling grounds, until no point is proven. There should not be anymore episode. Because he bows.

What do you see in your crystal ball for you?

Do you see a pilot? a hero?
Do you get your peace of mind?
Do you have a lifeline? a partner?

At the moment, we are witnessing the current batch of Malaysian politicians from both sides of the Malaysian Parliament demonstrate to us that they are seriously lacking in the political will and leadership showed to us by statesmen politicians such as Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad!

No matter what anyone says or tries to rundown both of these men and accuse them of being ruthless dictators, these gentlemen steered their nations to be where they are today and both countries are very much the desired destinations of those seeking to earn an income to improve the lives of hundreds of millions of people from this part of the world.

LET ME BE YOUR LEADER
(NAZARETH)

Let me be your leader
Let me have control
The way I see it
Its got to be right for you

I could be your pilot
Through the stormy seas
The way you see it
Its just a case of trust in me

I could be your hero
Ill be your peace of mind
The way that I see it
Its got to be good for you
I wanna be your brother
If you need a friend
The way you see it
Its got to be right by me

Winners--losers
Takers--users
What do you see in your crystal ball for you?
Do you see an old wound fade into the blue?

I will be your lifeline
If your ship goes down
The way that I see it
Youve got to have faith in me

I wanna be your partner
Through the darkest nights
The way you see it
Its always just you and me

Midnight screamers
Daytime dreamers
What do you see in your crystal ball for you?
Do you see an old wound fade into the blue?

I'm very determined. If I decide what something is worth doing, then I'll put my heart and soul to it. The whole ground can be against me, but if I know it is right, I'll do it...

and I did it my way

Konsep 1Malaysia & Cabarannya

UPDATE

Perkasa boss: Foo, you’re an idiot

“I think the change in Khairy that Foo referred to is related to Malay issues,” Ibrahim said. “Those who fight for Malay issues or defend Article 153 of the Constitution are branded as extremists.”

“And those who support vernacular schools and to get rid of the New Economic Policy are not extremists but so-called ‘Malaysians first’,” he said.

“So we are not Malaysians even though we are the indigenous people who have lost a lot just to accommodate these so-called ‘Malaysians first’,” he added.

ORIGINAL POST

Among Malays and Bumiputras, there are groups who abuse Special Position embodied in the Malaysian Constitution and in certain public policies to advance their own interests. They alienate not only the vast majority of non-Malays but also a significant segment of the Malay and Bumiputra populace.

1Malaysia was anchored in the Malaysian Constitution and linked to the Rukunegara and Wawasan 2020, which are instruments of nation-building, not political party manifestoes. If it had not been for this negative attitude of some politicians, which has an impact upon a portion of the populace, 1Malaysia would have gained more traction.

the pronounced push for Chinese primary and secondary education within the Chinese community, in contrast to its passive approach to education in the national language, has created a great deal of disillusionment among Malays who feel that the former are not inclined towards integration that acknowledges the identity of the land.

There are influential elements in the religious establishment who do not realize that their narrow, bigoted interpretations of rules and regulations undermine that universal, inclusive spirit of Islam which reinforces the notion of common humanity that 1Malaysia envisages. On the other hand, there are non-Muslim politicians who are totally insensitive to Muslim feelings about Islamic etiquette, practices and institutions.

Period!
1Malaysia is also hampered by certain communal pronouncements and ethnic distortions and misconceptions which are ventilated more frequently than before in the public square. Words such as ‘pendatang’ and ‘penumpang’ directed at fellow non-Malay citizens are not only demeaning and degrading but also utterly reprehensible from the standpoint of our quest for national unity. They are, to some extent, a reaction to the constant attempts by a section of the non-Malay intelligentsia through cyber media to question the Malay position.

Between Ah Beng & Danny Wong

‘Ketuanan Melayu’ is not --- as erroneously interpreted by the English language media--- ‘Malay Supremacy’. It is more accurately described as ‘Malay Sovereignty’. The fight against the Malayan Union in 1946 was an attempt to restore Malay sovereignty, crucial elements of which were later incorporated into the Malayan and Malaysian Constitution in the form of the position of the Malay Rulers, the status of Malay and Islam, and the Special Position of the Malays.

Satu Sekolah Untuk Semua - 1Malaysia DS Najib Untuk Siapa?

Jebat Must Die (JMD) memuatkan kenyataan Lee Kuan Yew seperti berikut:-
“Now we have a very polarised Malaysia — Malays, Chinese and Indians in separate schools, living separate lives and not really getting on with one another. You read them. That’s bad for us as close neighbours”
JMD said, "This is the most damaging statement from the de-facto ruler of Singapore which had dented Lim Kit Siang’s chinese-centric DAP."

I have submitted a comment to  JMD's blog as follows:-
Well we know where Lim Kit Siang stands. Not so surprising if he defended vernacular school (SJK – C) so much. That is expected.
To me, the statement is much more damaging to NAJIB. He had once said this:-
“BN adalah sahabat sejati pendidikan sekolah cina.”
Not sure whether he said that in the capacity of BN’s chairman or it was just in his personal capacity. It looks akward if it was in BN’s Chairman capacity because one might ask, “What have UMNO and MIC got to say about it?”, since most UMNO will support SK and MIC will fight for SJK – T.
AND
Mengimbas kembali ketika beliau menjadi Menteri Pendidikan, Najib berkata beliau telah mengambil “risiko politik” apabila beliau mencadangkan Akta Pendidikan dipinda untuk membolehkan sekolah rendah Cina ditukarkan menjadi sekolah jenis kebangsaan.
The two above are enough to earn NAJIB the unofficial title of BAPAK VERNAKULAR. “Vernakular china” I would say.
Tagore once said:-
"TO BUILD A NATION, BUILD A SCHOOL"
which, to me, nation building "business" must start from tender age, "bermula di bangku sekolah lagi".

In terms of nation building, more specifically, education system - what is DS Najb's 1-Malaysia trying to achieve?

Naj, a visitor to my blog commented this:-
"If anything we should stop all these "Malaysia berbilang bangsa tapi bertoleransi" ads. They're sickeningly cliched. And I think these ads actually EMPHASIZED the fact that we are all different people BUT we should tolerate and accept and look for the best in each other. I mean, if a kid were to see or hear or read these ads, the first thing they'll think is; "hey yeah, I didn't notice it at first but now the ad's mentioned it, my friends ARE different from me. Now I'd have to be a bit more careful when dealing with them because they're different from me and I should tolerate what they're doing". And the hypocrisy starts..."
We are 1-Malaysia, yet we are constantly reminded of and told to live in differences...sekolah vernakular, bahasa Mandarin, "Malaysia Truly Asia?", Maybank's latest advertisement in mother tongue which many of us will read to understand what the girl and her mother were saying instead of hearing straight from what was said?... what else DS Najib?

NO WONDER MANY OF US ARE STILL CONFUSE OF WHAT THE HECK DS NAJIB'S 1-MALAYSIA IS ALL ABOUT!

NEM's Lethal Dose - The More Derserving Is Getting Less !

Talking about access to higher education.

But before that, let me paste this image below, obtained from SATU SEKOLAH UNTUK SEMUA merdeka's message.

Now let's talk about access to higher education.

I'd like to re-quote Tun Dr Mahathir's paragraphs, which I have earlier quoted at my other blog, HERE (...LISTED!!!)
"...In education whereas there is about 60% bumiputera in the Government universities, there are less than 10% in the private universities. And there are more private universities, university colleges and colleges than there are public (Government) universities. Even the 10% bumiputera are there because of scholarships by MARA. Take the scholarships away and there would be practically none.

Why is it that the focus is only on what is done by the Government? If the bumiputera in Government universities should be reduced, then the bumiputera in the private universities should be increased. Or else meritocracy would reduce the number of bumiputeras getting university education. Or is it the intention to deny bumiputeras higher education? ..."

Government decided to allow for private colleges and universities to be set up. They can twin with recognised foreign universities and should issue their diplomas and degrees. The reason for allowing private institutions of higher learning is to reduce cost of tertiary education so that the parents who could not afford to send their children abroad can have access to foreign qualification from local private institutions. You can guess who are the beneficiaries of this Government policy..."
** The underlined above are my editings. The full text of the above can be read, HERE.

From Tun Dr. Mahathir's above, we can see that:-
  • There are less Bumiputeras having access to higher education since private education institutions  outnumbered the Government's instutions. There are much less than 10% Bumiputera's enrollment in these private institutions. Had it not because of MARA's scholarship, the enrollment of Bumiputera in these private institutions would practically become NIL.
  • Denying more Bumiputera from having access to higher education is true when places in public (government) education institutions for Bumiputera are reduced in order to allow more spaces to the non-Bumiputera; while at the same time, without scholarship, the Bumiputera can only dream to enrol in private institutions. And with the replacement of NEP by NEM, the Bumiputera will be further "condemned". HIDUP TUAH! said in his blog, "...analogous to the result of a surgical operation: the operation (NEM) succeeded but the patient (Malays) died!..." The Bumiputera/Malays, not only being systematically denied of more access to higher educations by having to give up the places in public education institutions, but also being are being systematically injected with lethal dose of NEM.
  •  It looks like the non-Bumiputera has been enjoying MORE "scholarships" than the Bumiputera when the education funds (or rather cost discounts) are given out  indirectly. This is when Government's policy allows the setting up of many private institutions with twinning programs, allowing a lower cost of educations since students need not go overseas to further their studies. And it needs no further saying when Tun Dr Mahathir wrote, "...guess who are the beneficiaries of this Government policy..."

This blogger feels the need to amplify what Tun Dr. Mahathir had written above after having read the blog entry by satD of Pure Shiite, "Scholarships for UEC??? More Chinese Voter Goodies", a HISTORIC move by the current government. When SATU SEKOLAH UNTUK SEMUA calls for the liberalisation of education system, to be free from anti-national elements, the current government under DS Najib's administration continues to support the national elements of The People's Republic of Communist China in this very country called Malaysia. In few other respects including this, Ahmad Maslan should have called many others instead of  Ibrahim Ali alone, to read the small book of 1-Malaysia concept.

In the Merdeka message by SATU SEKOLAH UNTUK SEMUA, they wrote:-
Go HERE to read their Merdeka's message and to learn how the campaign movement started.

This blogger cannot understand DS Najib:-
    • He said he took political risk, when he was the Minister of Education before, in defending vernacular schools and at one time claimed that BN was a "sahabat sejati pendidikan sekolah cina". Wonder whether UMNO and MIC would claim the same, or DS Najib only spoke in his personal capacity, rather than BN's chairman. The great affection DS Najib seems to have toward vernacular schools has earned him an unofficial title of "Bapak Vernakular"
    • DS Najib's NEM is infact a lethal dose which finally will kill the Malays as pointed out by Hidup Tuah! Datuk Ibrahim Ali of Pribumi Perkasa had said it to DS Najib's face, "Melayu Sudah Tolak MEB". Does DS Najib still want to maintain his apologetic stance and finally become the enemy of the Malays and Bumiputera? Did DS Najib ever learn?

It is perplexing to note that DS Najib continues to "romanticise" a particular minority, but loud-mouth group while keep "hurting" the majority, but more patient group. To achieve what? votes? Looks like DS Najib is not going to inject NEM's lethal dose to the Malays and Bumiputera alone, but also to himself !!! This country is being ruined !!!

It is a wonder whether DS Najib is able to see anything below the surface when he embarks into a certain policy. Does he even see the surface himself, or someone else like his advisors, made him 'see' the surface of things? Let alone things under the surface. DS Najib definitely fails and not very far-sighted (does he even has a sight at all?) in this respect.

Given the above circumstances, this blogger finds that there is a firm basis to support the call for REVOLUTION, first mentioned, HERE, by Kijang Mas of Demi Negara and subsequently called for, HERE.
    .
"Folks, we need a revolution. No, not of the French or Russian or Romanian kinds, but a revolution within our inner selves, and collectively as a society, as members of the real Anak Bangsa Malaysia"

Come ! Let us all support this call for Kijang Mas of Demi Negara!

    Support the call for
    INNER    R E V O L U T I O N . . . ! ! !

Finally, I need a favor from you guys, this blog's kind visitors. Please click the image below and fill up the simple form you see after clicking the image. Thanks!

    Jiwa Yang Tidak Berbangsa Malaysia?

    Our Early Education System

The other day, on the way to Tadika, my daughter was complaining; "Sakit perut! Sakit perut!" and she refused to get out from the car when we reached the Tadika. "Ok, let's send kakak to commuter station, first", and of course as expected, the "sakit perut" was gone.

On the way back to the Tadika, again the "Sakit perut! Sakit perut!". In 'negotiating' with her along the way, I found out that "too much homework" was the real reason. She demanded me to tell the teacher not to give her homework in exchange for her to attend the Tadika that day. So, when we got there, I requested the teacher to try not to give much homework. And going-to-Tadika-business is to back to normal since then. Hopefully, I dont have to deal with this not-so-mysterious "sakit perut" too soon, next.

We have just recently came back from holiday. My niece in U.K has a son, age 7, a year older than my daughter. My wife had the opportunity to visit the "equivalent to our sekolah rendah kebangsaan". There are six classes (equivalent to Standard 1 to Standard 6) of about 134 pupils in total. My niece's son is in "Standard 1". The teachers practically know the family of each pupil, who's who, where they live, what they do, etc.

From the information I have got, my niece's son is being taught a lot on "speaking" (to nurture self-confidence) and reading/writing, little on mathematic and the rest is fun playing times. Children play, don't they?. The "confident mulut murai" son has only a lunch box to carry in his school bag and spends quite some time each day, playing at school.

Remember Dr. M's 3M? Membaca, Menulis dan Mengira? Whatever happens to this 3M when a growing number of Malaysians don't even know to read and write in their own Bahasa Kebangsaan! The Bangladeshis and Pakistanis beat these "Malaysians" silly at their "home" ground when they can speak Bahasa Melayu in a month time compare to the so-called Malaysians who can't even speak properly since birth! The Malays who are still in need of "tongkat ekonomi" (so they accused) may just build huge business empires selling "Tongkat Bahasa Kebangsaan" to the so-called Malaysians!

Now look at my daughter's school bag. There are books of Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, Bahasa Mandarin, Sivik/Ugama, Matematik, Computer, Music, Coloring and lunch box (Did I miss anything? Oh yes!.. plus homeworks some more). In U.K, we were looking for a kitty school bag with rollers (more of a trolley I supposed), but could not find one with rollers. All were without rollers. Why you need a trolley when you only have a lunch box to carry, not "tons of books"?! Wanna analyze this further? How about the later generation of Malaysians will be known as si Bongkok, because kecik-kecik lagi sudah kena latihan angkat berat? Or maybe Malaysia will sapu bersih gold medals in Olympic weight lifting, both in men and women categories.

Najib's 1-Malaysia sounds weird when the first language in his blog is English. Bahasa Melayu only comes second and; Najib is promoting Mandarin, next was Tamil too, presumably after some protests. So when is he going to promote the languages of Singhalese, Punjabi, Siamese, Jawa, Kelate, Minang, Dayak, Dusun, Murut, Bajau, Negrito, Jakun etc? Bahasa Kebangsaan, that is Bahasa Melayu, seems to have less due attention from the government than Mandarin by the weird 1-Malaysia. Oh yes! Mandarin in Tadika and compulsory Mandarin in private schools too!. Zambry of Perak also made it compulsory for the MPs to learn Mandarin, I heard. Mandarin is the official language of China PRC, not even the mother tongues of many here who speaks Cantonese, Tionghua etc. When people unite speaking one language (Satu Bahasa, Satu Negara), Najib's 1-Malaysia promote different languages AND does not seem to give a damn toward Bahasa Kebangsaan. Is that not weird? My daughter may grow up and do business in Turkey. She does not have to learn Turkish now. If she ends up doing business with the China PRC, then she will learn Mandarin at the approriate time. At schooling age, she should 'burden' herself to be fluent in her own Bahasa Kebangsaan, just like the anak jati of British, Americans, French, Japan, Korean etc. She will take the "extra burden" to learn the second language, English. Malaysia is unique isn't it?, uniquely weird!

Sometime ago, I searched for a dictionary add-on to my Mozilla Firefox. I found Bahasa Indonesia dictionary, but I did not see any Bahasa Melayu dictionary. I notice now there is Bahasa Melayu translation in some of the online translation tools. Try translating some paragraphs into to Bahasa Melayu and see what you get. I heard some non-English speaking countries are working with Microsoft to produce Windows in their very own fully fledged native/official language. When we will have a fully fledged Jendela 7? If Najib's 1-Malaysia is not that weird, not at least in the respect of Unity via One Official  common Language, I would have, by now, a decent and comprehensive Bahasa Melayu dictionary online. No more "alien" doing the Bahasa Melayu paragraphs translations on-line. DBP would have been a respected and the world's Pakar Rujuk Bahasa Melayu. Instead of one understand each other via common language, Najib's 1-Malaysia promotes further separation when one does not understand the language spoken by another one. Instead of channeling the tax payers money towards strenghtening the DBP, making it the world class organisation, Najib throws the money to Sekolah Vernakular, every now and then, especially when there is a by-election; sending the country further into disunity chaos. More and more do not understand each other simply by the different languages spoken. How to tolerate and accept each other when one don't even understand each other? One becoming more suspicious of another, adala! That is why I said, Najib's 1-Malaysia is weird in this respect.

Tagore said, "To build a nation, build a school" where you produce rakyat jati diri from kecil lagi. Bukan jadi rakyat tak tahu bangsa, tak gheti bahasa! So Muhyiddin, prove that Malaysian have balls, not just timidly and apologetically succumbed to unreasonable demands from certain quarters. Pay VERY VERY VERY serious attention to the KEMPEN SATU SEKOLAH UNTUK SEMUA (SSS). Revisit our education policy, right from the kindergarten age till the university graduation age, make a MAJOR REVAMP as necessary, NOW!!!. Why now? read the last para herein.
Click the image below and sign the petition!

Speaking about money thrown to Sekolah Vernakular, I have relatives working as cikgus and cikgis. Almost every time there is some kind of look in their face when they came back late from schools. All kind of stories, go and find out from your own cikgus and cikgis, the Sekolah Kebangsaan ones. I think the cikgus and cikgis are overburden lots. Teaching is not the only work it seems. I remember one said that he teaches 3 different subjects at school. So  imagine, 3 different subjects, teaching Standard 5 pupils, there are Mawar, Cempaka, Baiduri classes with each class having more than 50 pupils. When semester ends, comes to the teacher-meet-parents stuff, he has to prepare 'report card' for each of his student. So there are about 150 pupils in Standard 5 and times the 3 different subjects he teaches. More than 450 report cards he has to prepare. Off and on he has to attend seminars, workshops, some out of school duties as directed by the Pejabat Pelajaran, prepare reports to the Pejabat Pelajaran, more reports if he is also a Guru Disiplin, etc.  And remember he also has to prepare teaching materials to teach! Next time when you go to a stationery shops or stationery section of a pasaraya, look at the gadgets they sell to assist these poor cikgus and cikgis. You will find 'custom made' rubber stamps of various kinds, 'STAR' symbols, 'BAGUS', 'DI PERIKSA OLEH', 'PERLU USAHA LAGI' and many more. It is neat to stamp 'BAGUS' rather than  having to hand-write it more than 400 times at each given time!  I thought the naughty pupils will be punished to write "Saya tak buat lagi" 100 times on the blackboard. Nowadays the cikgus and cikgis pula nakal, voluntarily punished to hand-write more than 400 times! So when Najib throws around the tax-payer money to sekolah vernakular, why not hand out the equal amount of burdens to the cikgus and cikgis of sekolah vernakular whenever there is a call of duty from the Pejabat Pelajaran? Since they shout for equal treatment, hand them the equal treatment from and subject them to the Pejabat Pelajaran  as well! Muhyidin, any comment?

Well! after all being written here, one may shout, "You yourself is writing this blog in English, not Bahasa Melayu. A weirdo calling others a weird, eh?" He..he..he... my niece's son knows this blog and at the age of 7, he is fluent in the Bahasa Kebangsaan of Britain, the country where he lives for the moment. Even though he has different language as mother tongue, unlike Malaysia, the British dont make it compulsory to learn foreign mother tongue in their soil. They make sure that you are fluent, both in speaking and writing, U.K. English, the National/Official Language of the country. My niece's family and friends don't go around everywhere and every second of the day speaking mother tongue in U.K. But Malaysia? Very weirdly unique, isn't it? I admit, the "mulut-murai" son will not read this if it was written in Bahasa Melayu, shame on me for not having a word with my niece to have her son fluent in Bahasa Melayu ! Btw, are you fluent enough in Bahasa Melayu to read the whole article fully in Bahasa Melayu?, or are you not Malaysian?

Not all of the chiildren want to grow up to become Si Bongkok, the weight lifter, who only mingle with their own kind because the other kind do not speak the same language as they do. They are suspicious lot, who are quite blur with their BANGSA, and TAK GHETI BAHASA too. They are more or less, robots, designed to produce 'A ++++' in each exam paper but have not a single knowledge and skill to cook a 3-minutes maggi noodles.

Where the heck are my soccer stars?
They are all in tuition class after school, Sir! and we have not finished with our homeworks yet!

Remember, children PLAY and mingle. That's what they do.

Now who robs the children of their God-given right time to play? PM and Menteri Pelajaran with our early education system? While the children are being driven to the wall to worship scoring as many "As" in as many subjects as possible, the adult worship money at all cost (to achieve high income earners in recent belanjawan, or shall I say bajet?). Very unique recipe of 1-Malaysia, huh?!

The last para - Our education system, littered with mafias, becomes more like falsampah pendidikan negara, burdened with its vernacular issues, paper chase mentality etc let alone to be anywhere near to falsafah pendidikan global. Not enough with textbooks mafias, now they are talking to privatise government exams, adding more sampah?. Read OutSyed The Box, here.

    Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa

Sudahlah mendaulatkan bahasa kebangsaan negara asing, rasis pulak tu!.

(Iklan permohonan jawatan di atas antara lain mensyaratkan "ABILITY TO SPEAK AND READ MANDARIN..." dan "THOSE IN THE MUSLIM FAITH NEED NOT APPLY")

Bahasa ini jiwa bangsa. Jangan kerana bahasa, bangsa jadi BANGSAT.

    We Are One

Maybe we are different.... maybe we are not the same...
    but.. we are...

    One Race, One Nation
    We speak One Language!

    Quoting It From.......................

Nama-nama seperti Dr Lim Swee Tin, Awang Abdullah, Azlee Lee (Lee Chong Beng), Selina Lee, Eh Deng, Chua Tek Lui, Seri Neng Buah dan lain-lain. Tanya mereka tentang konsep ‘oghe kito’ dan ‘oghe luar’. Cara begitulah yang kita harapkan rakyat Malaysia menerima hakikat sejarah, kebudayaan dan sistem pemerintahan Malaysia...
...Penerimaan prinsip-prinsip kenegaraan berteraskan Perlembagaan dan Rukun Negara, sesuatu yang dijunjung tinggi orang Kelantan. Mereka tahu keluhuran Perlembagaan Negeri.
